Two teens have been arrested and charged as adults in the deadly shooting of a young congressional intern.

U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro announced the pair of 17-year-olds have been charged with murder in the June 30 slaying of 21-year-old Eric Tarpinian-Jachym, who shot four times when the teens allegedly opened fire from a stolen car, reported WRC-TV.

“The D.C. Council thinks they need to be protected," said Pirro, a former Fox News host, at a news conference announcing the arrests. "They don’t need to be protected. We need to be protected,”

Tarpinian-Jachym, who was in D.C. for the summer on an internship for Rep. Ron Estes (R-KS), was among three people shot outside an entrance to the Mount Vernon Square Metro Station.

Investigators said the suspects jumped out of an Acura SUV and started shooting at two teens on bicyles.

The other two victims, a woman and 16-year-old, are recovering from their wounds.
