KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) - There is a new sheriff in town! And he has four legs! The Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) will start training a new K9 named Fritz.
Chief Deputy Dan Schleusener said Fritz will be a single purpose dog, trained to sniff out drugs, explosives and other dangerous substances. He is a German shorthair from Jonesboro, Arkansas.
The dog is currently training in Arkansas and will be picked up in a couple of weeks to start his training with his handler, Deputy Nathan Howe. The pair will do their five week training course at the Nebraska State Patrol Training Academy in Grand Island.
Chief Deputy Schleusener said the dog was made possible by an anonymous $10,000 donation. He added that Midway Auto Dealerships and Brain and Carey Hamilton donated $8,000 that will be u
