ANN ARBOR TWP., MI – A stretch of southbound U.S. 23 north of Ann Arbor is closed due to a crash in a construction zone.

The crash was reported at 11:21 a.m. Friday, Sept. 5, on southbound U.S. 23 near Joy Road. The freeway is closed south of N. Territorial Road, exit 49, due to the crash, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation.

Police are on scene investigating the crash which involves a dump truck and pickup truck in the construction zone, according to the Michigan State Police.

It is unclear if there are any injuries at this time.

The freeway is closed while police investigate and the wreckage is cleared. It is unknown when the freeway will be reopened, police said.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes.
