CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The WCNC Charlotte Weather Impact Team wants you to stay weather alert for the risk of strong-to-severe thunderstorms Saturday afternoon across the Carolinas.

Especially with summerlike heat and humidity, there will be plenty of instability to work with, so keep a close eye on radar if you're heading outdoors for any reason. Our team will provide updates as needed on air, online, and on WCNC+.

The primary window for storms across the Charlotte metro is after 2 p.m. on Saturday, according to WCNC Meteorologist Brittany Van Voorhees. Storms could develop earlier for the mountains and foothills, so plan accordingly for outdoor activities.
