New legislation uses ATC as inspiration for national trail conservation, access programs

WASHINGTON (CBS19 NEWS) -- For a century, the Appalachian Trail Conservancy has worked to integrate scenic and historic trails with conservation, recreation and education networks to help preserve and expand access to such trails.

The ATC is now the inspiration for a bill before Congress that aims to strengthen the public-private partnerships that preserve, maintain and manage trails across the country.
