AUGUSTA, Maine — Fees for concealed handgun permits in Maine will increase beginning Sept. 24 under changes announced by the Maine State Police.
The new law sets the cost for a resident’s permit at $50 for an original application and $35 for a renewal. Nonresidents will pay $80 for both new and renewal permits.
The adjustments were made to 25 M.R.S.A. § 2003 E (4), according to a notice sent to all permit holders by the state police Weapons and Professional Licensing Unit.
All previous applications available online will become obsolete on Sept. 24, and updated applications will be posted on the department’s website the same day, according to officials.
