The refusal of Gov. Wes Moore and Mayor Brandon Scott to allow President Donald Trump’s military’s deployment in Baltimore defies logic, common sense and rational thinking ( “Trump to order federal troops to Baltimore to fight crime: ‘We have the right to do it,'” Sept. 2).

The governor and mayor have one opinion, yet they are jeopardizing everyone in Baltimore by thinking of themselves and not the taxpayers. In recent years, Baltimore has been listed as among the top five most dangerous U.S. cities and within the top 20 to 40 internationally. Baltimore, as well as the rest of the country, needs to finally get serious about the outrageous level of crime.

The decades of prayers, vigils and street marches obviously haven’t changed a thing. Something has to change yet Moore and Scott are
