The facility is located at Baker Correctional Institution, west of Jacksonville, and it marks Florida's second immigration detention center.

This announcement follows just one day after a federal appeals court halted a lower court's decision that aimed to shut down the first facility in the Everglades, known as "Alligator Alcatraz."

Gov. DeSantis said the "build out" of "Deportation Depot" would cost about $6 million, which is a significantly lower price tag than "Alligator Alcatraz."

He also stated that the federal government will reimburse Florida for all of its immigration detention expenditures.
