COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - Authorities have arrested a man and formally charged him with terroristic threats and acts.

According to the MCSO, on Thursday, September 4, around 3:45 p.m., officials received a bomb threat from an unknown male.

Multiple law enforcement agencies, including the MCSO’s Uniform Patrol Bureau, Special Operations Bureau, Park Patrol, HEAT Unit, Columbus Police Department, Phenix City Police Department, and ATF Task Force Operators/K9’s, rapidly responded to initiate an investigation.

After the call, the suspect, later identified as Christian Cruz-Benitez, was located and arrested.

Officials reported that Cruz-Benitez had been released earlier from the Muscogee County Jail, where he was being housed for a previous bomb threat.

Cruz-Benitez is charged with one felony
