One of the most attractive things about Michigan’s defense coming into the season was its depth along the defensive line. Even after losing stars Mason Graham, Kenneth Grant and Josaiah Stewart to the NFL, the Wolverines still boast a defensive front with upwards of 10 viable players that could get meaningful snaps throughout the game.

According to defensive line coach Lou Esposito, that depth might need to really show itself this Saturday when the Wolverines face an early-season test against John Mateer and an explosive Oklahoma offense. Mateer was one of the most highly sought-after players in this offseason’s transfer portal, and for good reason thanks to his dual threat ability.

“(Mateer)‘s tough — it’s gotta be all hands on deck, all eyes on him,” Esposito told reporters on Wednesda
