Opportunities for small businesses to shine in downtown Bremerton during next year's FIFA World Cup may get a boost, whether they're eager to sell crafts, food, or more to visitors who are expected to descend on Puget Sound for the six games hosted in Seattle .

Upon the request of the Downtown Bremerton Association, the City of Bremerton approved a 60-day temporary occupancy permit for "pop-up shops" to operate during the World Cup, which will play games in Seattle between early June and late July next summer. The pop-ups will operate under the city’s Temporary Merchant License, which is issued in lieu of a business license and exempt from Bremerton's Business and Occupation (B&O) taxes, said Jessica Combs, executive director of Downtown Bremerton Association.
