After making its debut in late August on the streaming service Netflix, “Unknown Number: The High School Catfish” has garnered a lot of attention and rave reviews on “Rotten Tomatoes.”
Directed by Skye Borgman and available to stream a week ago, the documentary tells the true story of former Beal City High School parent Kendra Gail Licari, who “catfished” her daughter and another teen, trying at one time to blame one of the victims.
Judge Mark Duthie’s Mt. Pleasant courtroom was filled with victims and their families when he sentenced in April 2023 Licari to prison rather than jail and probation in connection with her “catfishing” her own daughter and her daughter’s then-boyfriend.
Duthie has since retired.
