Low-price carrier Spirit Airlines said Thursday it is leaving Portland International Airport and 11 other locations, just days after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection for the second time.
Spirit said it would end service to PDX effective Oct. 3, according to CBS News and other media reports. Passengers who have bought tickets for travel to and from Portland after that date should contact the airline.
From Portland, Spirit has most recently provided nonstop service to Las Vegas after paring its flights in recent years. In July, the airline reported 58 arriving flights and 16,990 passengers carried in or out of Portland. That’s about 0.9 percent of the airport’s total passenger count in July.
