Cardinals first baseman Willson Contreras was moved to the suspended list Friday and is expected to miss the weekend series against the San Francisco Giants after Major League Baseball ruled on his appeal of a six-game suspension.
The suspension was reduced to what's expected to be four games, but the Cardinals had not yet officially announced the length as of Friday afternoon. An official transaction from the club posted Friday that moved Contreras' status to "suspended."
The club had other corresponding roster moves to finalize.
A formal announcement is expected as the team arrives at Busch Stadium to begin the three-game series against the Giants.
