NEW ORLEANS — President Donald Trump’s idea to deploy National Guard troops to patrol New Orleans received a mixed response from candidates
Trump floated the idea during a recent press conference, saying he might send troops to New Orleans instead of Chicago, as originally planned. Earlier this year, Trump deployed Guardsman to Los Angeles during immigration protests and more recently to Washington, D.C.
“So we’re going to be going to maybe Louisiana, and you have New Orleans, which has a crime problem. We’ll straighten that out in about two weeks,” Trump said. “It’ll take us two weeks, easier than D.C.”
