As Spruce Meadows brings the world of show jumping to Calgary, a Dutch connection is bringing a world of colour to the international venue.

When Heleen Valstar began importing and building the floral arrangements that adorn The Masters tournament at Spruce Meadows, the Calgary Tower was still one of the tallest buildings in Canada.

What started small 36 years ago, with Valstar bringing around a few thousand stems (the unit of measurement for flower merchants) has blossomed to over 100,000 stems and over four tonnes of flowers and greens as Spruce Meadows celebrates its 50th anniversary.
