CHICAGO (WLS) -- A man is facing several charges in connection with the December 2023 murder of a Lyft driver , Chicago police said on Friday.

The deadly shooting happened on the day after Christmas in the Austin neighborhood's 4800-block of West Thomas Street, police said. Officers initially responded to a crash around 8:45 p.m.

Responding officers found a vehicle that had hit two parked cars. Inside, they found 34-year-old Adriana Arocha-Duque in the driver's seat with a gunshot wound to the head.

Arocha-Duque was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Family members said she drove for the rideshare app Lyft.
