SEWARD – Young anglers will get extra time to cast for coho salmon at the Seward Lagoon this fall. The Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G) announced that the Youth-Only fishery has been extended through 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, September 30, 2025, giving kids 15 and under additional opportunity to harvest coho salmon.
The extension applies to the Seward Lagoon and the outfall stream draining from the lagoon. These waters remain closed to anglers 16 and older.
“The Seward Lagoon is stocked annually with coho salmon to provide additional fishing opportunities in Resurrection Bay,” said Assistant Area Management Biologist Donald Arthur. “Because coho are just beginning to arrive at the lagoon this week, right when the youth-only fishery would normally close, we are extending the season th
