As fear and misinformation swirl around immigration enforcement in the country, local officials and lawyers met in Bozeman on Thursday to talk about the situation in Montana.

About 100 people packed the event hosted by Bienvenidos and the League of Women Voters at Bozeman Public Library to hear Police Chief Jim Veltkamp, County Attorney Audrey Cromwell and three lawyers share what people should know about immigration enforcement and how it plays out locally.

“I think a lot of our community is very afraid,” said Vanessa Zamora Moreno, executive director of Bienvenidos. “My number one goal with this was that we provide our community information.”
