MANITOWOC, Wis. (WBAY) - The departure of the submarine USS Cobia from Manitowoc to Sturgeon Bay has been rescheduled for Sunday. It was originally scheduled for Thursday.
As previously reported , the Cobia will be towed to Sturgeon Bay for a six-week restoration project in dry dock at Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding. The departure for Sturgeon Bay was rescheduled due to weather conditions.
The Wisconsin Maritime Museum said wind conditions are forecasted to subside by Sunday, providing for safe travels for Cobia and her crew. Since weather conditions could change before Sunday, this date may need to be moved again.
The tugboats plan to depart from the Manitowoc harbor by 8:00 a.m. with USS Cobia. The public is welcome to watch the process from the shoreline surrounding the Wiscons
