HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) - Nine children and six animals were removed from a filthy home in Mount Vernon leading to the parents being arrested.

According to the Mount Vernon Police Department, on September 2, officers were called to a house in the 400 block of East 5th Street due to a caller being concerned about the number of animals in the home.

David and Terri Harner allegedly answered and let the officers inside. MVPD says even before entering, there was an overwhelming odor of feces and urine from inside the home. The officer reportedly had to step over multiple piles of animal feces and a puddle of urine on the floor.
