LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Lincoln Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the Good Samaritan who intervened during a sexual assault in broad daylight.

Police say a 12-year-old girl was walking home from the grocery store near South 34th Street and Plantation Drive around 3 p.m. Tuesday when a man got off his bike and approached her.

According to an arrest affidavit, the man, identified as Gavin Neverve , asked for the girl’s name and age, but she ignored him. He then came up behind her, touched her hair, and moved his hands down her body.

Police said a woman driving by saw what was happening, yelled at Neverve to stop, and walked the girl home. The girl’s mother later told officers the alleged assault left her daughter severely distraught.
