On Sunday, September 7, at 3pm an Emergency Alert test notification will be sent to all compatible devices in the UK.
The UK government is testing its emergency alert system to ensure that in a real crisis Brits will be sent the necessary information that might save lives.
The Emergency Alert system is used in situations of real danger, such as during severe storms, wildfires or flooding.
Since it was last tested on a nationwide scale in April 2023, the system has been deployed several times - including during Storm Darragh in December 2024 when a 'red alert' for extremely strong winds was issued by the Met Office.
