ALLEN PARK -- Detroit Lions defensive end Marcus Davenport isn’t oblivious to the narratives surrounding his health and status with the team.
He’s well aware of what has been said in the media and among some fans.
Davenport’s durability has been under the spotlight, particularly when it comes to the team’s edge rusher depth. The Lions opted not to pursue help in free agency or re-sign former pass rusher Za’Darius Smith.
Instead, they re-signed Davenport, who played just two games for them last season -- and six total over the past two years -- after suffering a triceps injury in Week 2.
Asked whether the outside chatter about his injury history bothers him, Davenport didn’t hold back.
