ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — With baseball heating up as we near the playoffs, Adam Chodak brought in someone he’s been wanting to talk to this time of year for a long time.
You might remember Sean Lahman from his days reporting for the Democrat and Chronicle, but he's one of those people who has a side project not many people know about yet puts them on the national map.
Sean started an online database of baseball statistics in the '90s that's now used by major league teams, videogame companies and more.
And not long ago, he gave it away, donating it to the Society for American Baseball Research, or SABR, as in Sabermetrics, which is now woven into the MLB.
In Adam’s interview he asks Sean why he did that.
That interview will start streaming Friday at 8 p.m. on the new RochesterFirst app
