A Tellico Plains man faces a second-degree murder charge after a stabbing that took place Thursday night.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office says they responded to a 911 call after receiving reports that a man named Keith Brandon McJunkin, 44, stabbed a male outside a home on Cagle Road.

Deputies detained the suspect on scene, then found Jeffery Dale Millsaps lying in front of a car, bleeding profusely.

The 911 caller was applying pressure to the victim's chest, where he had been stabbed. Deputies stepped in to help perform life-saving measures until EMS arrived.

While Millsaps was en route to the hospital, deputies secured the scene and spoke to witnesses in nearby homes.
