After more than two months, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is ending the traffic crossover that it implemented southbound on Interstate 579 on June 23.

Crews will remove the configuration between 9 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Sunday, eventually restoring access to the right-hand off-ramp to the Veterans Bridge (Exit 2A) and the ramp from southbound Route 28. The temporary left-hand exit to I-579 from southbound I-279 utilizing the HOV lanes will be closed.

PennDOT is preparing to shift the northbound traffic pattern next weekend. Resulting intermittent lane restrictions may take place during the week.
