A Hartford woman detained during a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raid last month is recovering at home after a federal judge granted her a temporary release, following allegations of medical neglect while in custody.

Vilma Noemi Aparicio-Deras, 28, was taken into custody on Aug. 23 during an ICE raid at Optimo Car Wash in Newington, where she worked. According to her attorneys, Aparicio-Deras had undergone surgery for kidney stones just days earlier and was prescribed antibiotics and other medications, none of which she received while in detention.
