BOARDMAN TWP., Ohio - Tri-State Marine Detachment #494 has announced its first "Walk for Life" will kick off in Boardman Park September 21 at 11:30 a.m.

Participants are able to show their support for veterans and first responders through a one mile or half-mile walk or run. Through the event, the Detachment says it aims to bring attention to suicide prevention, recognition and treatment for all, with an emphasis on veterans and first responders.

In addition to the walk or run, the event will include live music from the band Guys Without Ties and community support specialist tables at Boardman Park's Maag Outdoor Arts Theatre and Lawn.

Through the "Walk for Life," the Detachment says it hopes to "bring healing and share stories to remember those whose lives were cut short."
