FT. LEONARD WOOD, Mo. - A soldier at Fort Leonard Wood suffered a fatal injury Friday while training on a rifle range, according to U.S. Army officials.

The Army reports an 18-year-old solider from California, who was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 48th Infantry Regiment, died during training.

The soldier was pronounced deceased around 10:30 a.m. Friday. No other soldiers were injured.

"Circumstances surrounding the incident are currently under investigation by Fort Leonard Wood law enforcement and the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available," said the U.S. Army in a statement Friday.

Army officials are withholding the victim's identity until family has been notified.
