COLUMBIA, S.C. — The Columbia Fire Department says crews brought a house fire under control Tuesday afternoon on S. Ott Road.

Firefighters say they were called to the home shortly after 3:15 p.m., where smoke could be seen coming from the property and flames were visible from one of its rear corners.

Crews made entry and located the fire in the laundry room area of the home. Officials say that room suffered heavy fire damage, and smoke affected the rest of the property.

Officials said there were no injuries.

Two people were displaced as a result of the fire.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
