SUMTER, S.C. — Sumter Police are investigating an early morning shooting that ended with one person being taken by helicopter to an area hospital on Friday.
The Sumter Police Department said officers arrived at the scene at a home on Coachman Drive around 2:15 a.m. Officers said they found a 22-year-old man who had been shot. He was air-lifted from the scene and, at last check, was stable according to police. His exact condition was not available. Police said another person also suffered minor injuries during a situation that happened before the shooting. That person was treated and released.
Police said they didn't have additional information to share as of Friday night. Investigators are still looking into the circumstances of the incident and who may have been involved.
