KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Knoxville Police Chief Paul Noel and Knoxville Fire Chief Stan Sharp will host a ceremony observing the 24th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks next Thursday.

Leaders of the Knox County community will come together on Sept. 11 for a wreath-laying ceremony taking place on the front lawn of the City County Building at 8:40 a.m. The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation’s Memorial Stair Climb will follow at 9:30 a.m. at Covenant Health Park.

For public safety, Main Street will be closed to traffic between Walnut and Gay streets beginning at 8 a.m., with all traffic reopening no later than 9:15 a.m.
