The Vulcans’ last cluster was too much for the Golden Eagles to match.
Thirteen straight points for Cal in the middle two quarters lifted the Vulcans to a 23-19 victory at Adamson Stadium.
Charleston’s loss snapped a 15-game regular-season win streak.
After Harry Radcliffe’s 40-yard field goal put Cal up 23-13 with 3:15 remaining in the third quarter, Charleston’s Marques Herron hauled in a 33-yard pass from Ean Hamric just 2 minutes and 2 seconds later to get the Golden Eagles within four.
Those proved to be the final points of the game. Charleston (1-1) had three fourth-quarter drives, but punted on the first two and threw an interception on
