LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - Many parents protested outside a South Laredo elementary school, demanding answers regarding an alleged sexual assault that occurred on campus.

The protests stem from a Laredo mother, who wished to remain anonymous, claiming that her child, a student at Roosevelt Elementary School, expressed a desire not to return to school after allegedly being sexually assaulted.

She was one of several parents protesting outside the campus, holding signs that read “Protect kids, not reputation” and “We are our children’s voice.” The child’s mother also stated that she had brought the claims to the school’s principal, Sylvia Ruiz, who assured her that they would report the allegations to the proper authorities and investigate the alleged assault.
