LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - The United Independent School District sent a report that Aaron Garza, a third grader at San Isidro Elementary, has been selected for the 2025 National Math Stars Program.

The program identifies mathematically extraordinary learners and provides each with more than $100,000 in academic support until high school graduation.

Garza is among only 57 students selected out of thousands statewide for this program, a nonprofit started in 2023 and funded by philanthropic foundations interested in helping young students reach the frontiers of math and science. Garza is also the only student selected from Region One, which encompasses seven counties.
