INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (KCTV) - A man injured in a shooting at an Independence QuikTrip is charged while he continues to recover from injuries he sustained during the incident.

Prosecutors charged 30-year-old Austin Krantz with a felony weapons charge.

Investigators said someone from the convenience store called Independence Police for help and reported Krantz had a gun and was suffering a mental health crisis at the store.

Officers responded to the store and located Krantz. Investigators said at some point during the interaction shots were fired.

Krantz was injured in the shooting. He was treated at a hospital before being released. He is now in custody.
