PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - A new mural in Downtown Peoria is part of what Mayor Rita Ali called the area’s revitalization process.
The “ Play Greater ” mural, spanning 30 feet tall and 50 feet wide, was created by painter and sculptor Bob Doucette. It has a yellow background, with images of the skyscrapers downtown, a view of the Riverfront, and people drawn playing basketball.
Ali said she loves the big smiles and faces of people, including Abraham Lincoln, making the image “fun.” Ali said this will make pedestrians stop and admire the work, and the bright colors bring positivity.
“It attracts not just artists, but it attracts people that love art,” said Ali. “Not only just artists but people that love art. It attracts business to places. People want to be close to art and public art.
