A Yellowknife man is in custody after allegedly trying to smuggle drugs intro a prison.

Police say they received a tip on Aug. 27 that someone had dropped a stash of drugs at North Slave Correctional Complex. Correctional officers were able to locate the drop-off before its intended recipient was able to pick it up.

NT RCMP media relations officer Cpl. Josh Seaward said the Yellowknife RCMP General Investigation Unit started looking into the matter and identified a male suspect. Police located the suspect on Sept. 5 driving around downtown and attempted to pull him over, but the suspect sped away from police.
