The governments of Nunavut and the Northwest Territories agreed to update monitoring schedules and share data in a newly revised agreement, according to a Sept 3 news release.

Peary, Dolphin, and Union caribou herds are now included in the new version of the conservation agreement.

"By renewing this agreement with Nunavut, we are committing to make decisions together, based on the best available science and traditional knowledge, and to take strong action when it’s needed," said Jay Macdonald, NWT minister of Environment and Climate Change.

The agreement was originally signed in 2022 and this updated version is valid until 2030.
