EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KKTV) - A suspect has reportedly been arrested following a shelter-in-place order that impacted a neighborhood southeast of the Colorado Springs Airport.
The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPSO) said they received a text message regarding a disturbance at a home on Chia Drive. Deputies say the text read that the suspect had assaulted the reporting party with a hammer and was trying to kill him.
Deputies said they responded to the home and found the victim unconscious in the driveway. The victim later regained consciousness, and EPSO said he was taken to be evaluated by medical teams.
Deputies attempted to contact the suspect, 44-year-old Thomas Barton, but EPSO said he refused to leave the home.
