ELKINS, W.Va. (WBOY) — A man has been arrested and is facing charges after Elkins police officers said he set fire to an Elkins home before taking a water hose and fleeing the scene.
According to a criminal complaint, on Aug. 1, at about 12:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to a home on Harrison Avenue in Elkins for a report of attempted arson. The caller told 911 officials that Dylan Bennett, 25, who is homeless, set fire to their home.
When officers arrived on the scene, they said they found that a small fire had occurred, but it had been extinguished, and the fire department wasn't needed. Officers then took statements from two male victims, who said the arsonist had left before officers arrived, but that he had used clothes to start the fire.
