COLUMBIA, S.C. — Thousands of fans are expected to pack Williams-Brice Stadium this Saturday as the South Carolina Gamecocks kick off their season against South Carolina State University. With large crowds, heavy traffic, and busy tailgates expected, the University of South Carolina Police Department is urging fans to plan ahead and stay safe.

USC Police Captain Eric Grabski said fans should prepare for congestion around the stadium and allow plenty of extra time to get to the game.

“We have so many more vehicles, and traffic patterns are very, very crowded and hectic during that time,” Grabski said. “We ask fans to leave a little bit early and build extra time into your travel. Both pregame and postgame traffic patterns are in place to help everyone get in and out safely.”
