City-County Council initiative aims for safer, smarter Indianapolis through community input

INDIANAPOLIS — The smartest city in America — that is City-County Councilor Michael-Paul Hart's (R-District 20) vision for Indianapolis .

He created SmartIndy to make that a reality, turning ideas into proposals. He said a public safety roundtable in July set out to find ideas about how to make Indianapolis safer.

"All the leaders were there, from the prosecutor's office through the chief of police, who are decision makers in the city, and it was an open conversation to essentially find an opportunity to start introducing proposals that could impact their organizations," Hart said.
