The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) says a man in his 20s has been arrested for allegedly assaulting and urinating on a woman downtown Friday morning.

Police say the 31-year-old victim was walking near West Pender and Beatty Street just after 6 a.m. when she came across a naked man on top of a parked car.

“She continued to walk away from this man, but he began yelling at her,” Const. Tania Visintin told 1130 NewsRadio.

“He ran towards her, knocked her to the ground, and then urinated on her.”

Bystanders called 911 and held the man down until officers arrived, Visintin said.

The suspect has been arrested and taken to hospital under the Mental Health Act.

Visintin says the woman now has to deal with more than just the physical injuries relating to being pushed on the ground.
