Red Deer city council accused the firefighters union of bullying and harassment and called on it to pull down billboards critical of the chief.
Following a meeting Friday morning, council passed a resolution saying the city had a zero-tolerance policy on bullying, harassment and intimidation and called on the local firefighters union to remove billboards and "refrain from personal attacks, as they contribute to an unhealthy work environment."
Council's resolution expresses "confidence and support" in Fire Chief Ken McMullen and his deputy chiefs and "reaffirms that personal attacks on individuals in any position are unacceptable."
