U.S. Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky. has made a bold claim about President Donald Trump’s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files.

During an appearance on MSNBC’s “All In with Chris Hayes,” Massie stated he thinks Trump “may be covering for some rich and powerful people that are friends of his” as he seeks transparency from the administration regarding the Epstein files.

The comments come after Massie filed a discharge petition on Tuesday looking to force a floor vote requiring the administration release all files pertaining to the sex trafficking investigation and prosecution of late financier Jeffrey Epstein.

The petition received 215 of the 218 signatures required to pass as of Friday afternoon.
