PITTSBURGH (WTAJ) -- Steelers defensive lineman Cam Heyward remains uncommitted to suiting up for the Black & Gold Sunday against the Jets as his contract situation remains unresolved less than two days before the season opener.
On Friday, Heyward practiced with the team, but when he met with reporters for the first time in nearly a month, he reiterated the comments he made on his podcast Tuesday.
“I’m preparing. We still have time. We’ll see," he said.
Heyward was a "sit-in" during much of the team's training camp in Latrobe, but began practicing last month. The 36-year-old is seeking a new contract. He's playing on the first, of a two-year extension he signed last offseason. He'll make just short of $15 million, but has maintained that his play garners more money.
