BLISS — An individual, after pulling out a handgun, was shot and killed by deputies Friday afternoon, reports say.

Gooding County deputies were called to a report at 1:30 p.m. that a vehicle was high-centered on the side of a roadway, according to a news release by the Gooding County Prosecutor's Office.

Deputies contacted the driver, who was still in the area, the release said, and when one of them went to check the vehicle, the driver pulled out a firearm.

In response, both deputies discharged their service weapons, striking the individual, who died at the scene, the release said.

As is customary during officer-involved shootings, the Magic Valley Critical Incident Task Force was deployed. Minidoka County Sheriff's Office has been named the lead investigator.
