BANDON, Ore. - Travelers on U.S. 101 between Bandon and Port Orford should brace for traffic delays as a culvert replacement project kicks off Monday, Sept. 8, according to the Oregon Department of Transportation.

ODOT officials said that the work will take place about six miles south of Bandon. Farline Bridge Inc. will limit the highway to a single lane from Sept. 9 to Sept. 19 for excavation work. Flaggers will manage traffic around the clock, with delays of up to 20 minutes expected.

The project will fully close U.S. 101 for the weekend starting at 9 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 19. The highway is scheduled to reopen late on Sunday, Sept. 21.

There are no local road connections or facilities for bicycles or pedestrians in the area. The only detour is a lengthy route via U.S. 199, Interstate
